A Message from the President

Dear colleagues and friends,

There is a lot to process in this new year.

I trust that many of you have seen the posts and video message from AMTA regarding the president’s executive orders and their potential impact on our organization, our field, and our clients and care partners. AMTA President Angie Snell and Government Relations chair Judy Simpson (as well as many others) have been working tirelessly to get answers for us and we will continue to hear from them as the months go by. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me and I will answer your questions to the best of my ability. I hope you are taking care of yourselves during this uncertain time.

On a lighter note, we are so looking forward to seeing many of you at our spring conference in Portland, ME from April 3-5. It should be an amazing opportunity for learning and connecting with colleagues, students, and friends!

In the past, as part of the General Membership (Business) Meeting, the NER board has publicly recognized one or two individuals who have had an impact on or who have served our region over the years. This year, we would like to open up the nominations to our music therapy community. Please take a moment to fill out this Google form, where you can nominate one professional music therapist for our Impact Award, and one professional music therapist for our Service Award. The Impact Award will go to someone who has made an impact on our region and field over the years, and the Service Award will go to someone who has served our region over the years, either as a board member, or through other volunteering efforts.

We hope that by opening up this process, we can recognize and amplify the amazing work done by individuals in our greater NER music therapy community.

Thank you for reading, and please submit any nominations by March 12th, 2025.

Sincerely,

Wendy Krueger, MA, MT-BC
