About the Carter School:
● The Carter School is a Boston Public School located on the border of Boston’s Lower
Roxbury and South End neighborhoods. Ranging in age from 12 to 22, students present
with both severe, intensive disabilities and complex health needs. Due to these unique
challenges, each classroom is composed of five students, one teacher, and two
teaching-assistants. Students also work one-on-one with a variety of therapists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Facilitates individual and/or creative arts therapy in-person groups with clients at the
Carter School approximately 4-5 hours per week, every Tuesday and Wednesday during
the school year.
● Engages in regular paid monthly supervision with both the director and other members of
the team to support in clinical work through our peer supervision model
● Completes all necessary documentation for all clients and submits a timesheet on a
monthly basis.
● Demonstrate a professional attitude toward all clients, prospects, and other professionals
at all times
● Performs other duties as requested
● Maintains appropriate credentialing
● Reports directly to the Director
Qualifications
● Clinical experience working with Neurodiverse individuals especially with various child
and adolescent populations with both severe, intensive disabilities and complex health
needs using creative arts therapy techniques and practices
● Excellent in-person group facilitation skills
● Understanding of the safety and ethical considerations around working with Neurodiverse individuals
● Willingness to self-educate on the impact that racism, ableism and other forms of
oppression have on the clients we serve and implications for creative arts work
Licensure/Education/Training
● Credentials in Creative Arts Therapy modality of Music Therapy or other Creative Arts
Therapy modality
● Master’s Degree in Creative Arts Therapy, Music Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy,
or related field from an accredited college or university or Bachelor’s Degree in
Music Therapy with experience.
Other Requirements:
Must have reliable transportation, valid license and proof of insurance.
Must undergo CORI background check
Hours, Pay Range and Benefits:
Part time, contract employees will work an average of 2-10 hours a week depending on contract
work available. Pay will vary based on education and experience.
