Conference Program and App Announcement

Hello NER!
There is a tingling of excitement in the air as we arrange the final touches on this year’s conference. This year we will have released our conference program via PDF. Our VP elect did a BEAUTIFUL job creating this for us. I recommend downloading this to your device in a program such as iBooks (for apple devices) or Adobe Acrobat PDF (for Android Devices).  If you require a print version, I suggest  downloading it on your device now and print it out.

Also, we have used Guidebook as our app host this year. Please download the app. A unique passcode will be presented to you at conference.

Need more guidance?  I created a handy video tutorial especially for you! So check it out for download instructions and a sneak peek of guidebook. If you need further assistance with android devices, try this link  or visit me at the registration desk and we can troubleshoot together. As always, if you require assistance with other technology related matters, you can contact me.

Looking forward to sea-ing you in Newport!

Important: Conference Registration FAQ

Hello NER,

For the past few years we have used the Regonline System. This system has aided in drastically reducing and streamlining many tasks our volunteers have had to hand check in the past. I have observed a number of frequently asked questions that I feel would be useful to have on hand publicly. All of this information is also available on registration form in strategic locations.

1. Question: Why won’t my membership number work?

1. Answer:  If you are registering as an AMTA member to receive discounted member pricing, you will need to enter a current AMTA Membership Number.  Regional numbers are distributed to us once a week.  If you recently became an AMTA Member or renewed your AMTA Membership, you may need to wait  until this number is distributed and input into our system for registration.

2. Question: I am a member with an address outside of the region. How will you receive my membership number?

2. Answer: Registrants from outside the region must email a screenshot receipt of your membership number and forward to

3. Question: How do I contact you?

3. Answer:  There are many ways! You can connect directly through our website. However, is the most preferred and efficient way.  You may also text or call (617) 276-5213.  FYI: Cassandra is the point of contact. This is her personal mobile phone, please be kind.

4. Question: How can I be eligible to receive an AMTA member discount price before early bird deadline?

4. Answer: You will be guaranteed eligibility for membership regular registration rate if your membership is renewed by Friday March 3rd at 4:00 PM. Registration will be updated on Saturday March 4th, and you will have until  Monday March 6th at 11:59 PM EST to take advantage of the regular conference rate.  We cannot guarantee the regular rate for those who renew their registration after  Friday March 3rd at 4:00 PM.

Please see Answer 2 if you are out of region.

We’d like to invite you to register for our 2016 New England Region of the American Music Therapy Association’s Annual Conference, An Ocean of Knowledge, a Sea of Experiences!, on April 28th – 30th, at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel and Spa, in North Falmouth, MA.  Our conference is a little later than usual, but the benefits of enjoying warm, lovely, late April days at the beach, are alluring.

Whether you’re able to join us for a day on The Cape, or for a long weekend, plan on pampering  yourself with self-care experiences, making connections with friends and colleagues (, and furthering your professional development (CMTE page).

An overarching theme at our conference this year is the importance of Self-Care.  We have a number of sessions, CMTE’s and events over the weekend that will address this very important need in our lives.  Lisa Kynvi is generously donating her time and professional talent in providing our professional membership with a Sand Tray experience.  Please take a look at the schedule provided on the web site and consider signing up for a session.

This year we have Steve Wikes, a percussion professor at Berklee, joined by Berklee students, including some of our own NER Student Members, providing a wonderful Drum Massage experience.

“Come lay down and give your mind and body some self-care

as we massage you with an aural bath of low frequencies and

quiet, repetitive rhythms.”

Announcing for the first time ever… THE NER MUSICAL YARD SALE!!!

Please take a look at the announcement on our website and consider participating in this terrific NER event!  Lorrie Kubicek is the coordinator, and will be happy to answer your questions, or provide you with any additional information.

Of course, what is an NER Conference without the CABARET, and My Band, playing for our dancing pleasure!  Bring along your dancing shoes for a serious “Saturday Night Dance Party”!

The Sea Crest Beach Hotel and Spa are holding a block of rooms for NER-AMTA with the discounted price of $129.00 per room until March 25th.  After that, their prices move back to their typical rates.  Please be sure to book your hotel room sooner rather than later, to take advantage of the discounted conference room rate.
