Title: Music Therapist (Part-Time)
Summary of Position
The Music Therapy Department at the Community Music Center of Boston (CMCB) is seeking a motivated, creative, passionate, and community-oriented Music Therapist. The Music Therapist will work with a variety of populations and age groups at various community outreach sites through the Community Engagement Programs and at CMCB through the Community Music School.
Status: Part-time (2-5 hours/week)
Start Date: May/June 2021
Reports to: Senior Director of Community Engagement Programs
Works Closely With: SDCEP, Music Therapists, Music Therapy Interns
Responsibilities
Provide weekly music therapy services in individual and group settings
Facilitate sessions remotely via Zoom
Facilitate sessions in person once state and local guidelines allow
Complete documentation including assessments, weekly progress notes, quarterly progress reports, and annual agency profiles
Fill out attendance sheet in an accurate and timely manner for payroll
Attend quarterly Music Therapy Department staff meetings, present in-services, attend community events as a representative of CMCB, and participate in professional development opportunities
Communicate with direct service staff and administrative teams at community outreach sites; communicate with caregivers regarding client progress
Provide supervision for Music Therapy Interns and Berklee College of Music practicum students
Use Community Music Center of Boston email address to stay in communication with CMCB colleagues and supervisor
Qualifications
Essential:
MT-BC required
Two years of professional experience, which will allow the music therapist to supervise interns
Ability to facilitate music therapy sessions remotely
Understanding of the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion practices and their application to the field of music therapy
Experience with music production, engineering, and songwriting
Ability to adapt clinical work to differing needs of agencies, groups, and individual clients
Proficiency in clinical musicianship, clinical improvisation, voice, and accompanying instrument.
Ability to effectively plan, facilitate, and document music therapy sessions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Demands
Requires physical stamina to transport, lift and distribute instruments
Compensation and Benefits
Salary – $32-35/hour
Benefits include non-contributory 403(b) retirement plan and discounts on music instruction at CMCB.
