Information on the Department:

 

Psychology and Applied Therapies is a multidisciplinary division within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. We have over 430 undergraduate students in 5 majors (3 BS, 2 BA) in the areas of Expressive Arts Therapy, Art Therapy, Counseling, Holistic Psychology and Psychology. In our curriculum, we emphasize applied experiential learning as well as traditional academic scholarship. We have a strong clinical faculty, a developing research program and collaborations with the College of Art and Design and with the Graduate School of Social Sciences.

 

Job Description and Responsibilities

 

Full-time, 9-month Faculty teach three to four courses per semester and have the opportunity to develop the department’s offerings in expressive arts therapy and to assist in revising the expressive arts therapy curriculum. Preferred applicants will represent the music therapy area. In addition to teaching undergraduate students, faculty members advise undergraduate students, participate in curriculum development in a multidisciplinary Division, engage in academic scholarship, serve on appropriate college and university committees, and participate in recruitment and retention activities.

 

Requirements (Education, Experience and Skillsets):

 

§ Must have an earned masters degree, but preferred doctoral degree or ABD in creative arts therapy or a closely related field; music therapy speciality preferred

§ Preferred board certification or registration in area of specialty; LMHC preferred

§ Must have clinical experience in area of specialty. 

§ Must have an excellent record of teaching undergraduate or graduate students.

§ Demonstrated engagement in both artistic performance and academic scholarship—i.e., presentation, collaboration, and/or publication. 

§ Artistic performance, exhibition, and/or residencies are valued. 

§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

§ Authorization to work in the United States.
