Leticia Prieto Alvarez, MT-BC, will discuss her work and provide training in clinical musicianship in work with older adults in a residential setting, including methods and specific techniques she uses to promote health and well-being.

Leticia is part of the Expressive Therapies team at Hebrew Senior Life and adjunct faculty at Lesley University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Health Sciences at the International Doctoral School of Juan Carlos I University, studying the effect of music therapy on the mood of residents with advanced dementia and neuropsychiatric symptoms. She received a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Music Therapy from Lesley University and a Master of Music in Viola Performance from New England Conservatory, where she studied as a Fulbright scholar. She is a neurologic music therapist who believes in an integrative approach. She has lectured at music therapy conferences in the U.S. and Spain and loves to learn from her clients, interns, and students.
