NER Statement

Dear NER Music Therapy Community,

Hopefully everyone in our NER music therapy community has read the message sent out by AMTA CEO Adonia Calhoun Coates a week ago.

NER-AMTA is here to support you all as we process this information, and we are very willing to address your questions or concerns. As AMTA Assembly Speaker and a member of the AMTA Board of Directors, NER President Brian Jantz has been involved in meetings over the past two weeks regarding the urgent and time-sensitive financial need our national organization faces. There was a town hall for regional presidents last week, attended by President Brian Jantz, President-Elect Wendy Krueger, and Immediate Past President Adrienne Flight.

AMTA is going through a significant transition this year on nearly every level and has begun the challenging process of making changes that have been needed for some time. NER has also met as an executive board and is looking at specific areas where we can offer support to AMTA and members of our regional community as we move forward.

The NER extended board is meeting this Wednesday 5/25/2022 at 7:30 pm ET. We invite anyone in our NER music therapy community to attend by filling out this Google form (link also below and on Facebook) in order to receive the Zoom link for the meeting. This meeting will include regional conference and committee updates, but also an opportunity to participate in an open floor discussion about the status and future of our national organization. The form also offers space to share specific questions, thoughts, and concerns ahead of time, and the NER leadership will review it before the meeting this week.

In service,

Brian Jantz, NER-AMTA President

Wendy Krueger, NER-AMTA President-Elect

Adrienne Flight, NER-AMTA Immediate Past President
