As a member of the Child Life Department, the music therapist works with hospitalized infants through young adults and their families on medical units at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital.
The Music Therapist is responsible for developing, implementing, modifying and evaluating individual and group music therapy sessions to restore, maintain or improve cognitive, physical, emotional and social function of children. Candidates should be familiar with developmental music play, active music-making, improvisation, song-writing and recording, and music-assisted relaxation to meet the needs of hospitalized children.
The music therapist is a member of an interdisciplinary team of artists and creative therapists and regularly collaborates with other staff members and/or co-facilitates groups.
