We are seeking a board certified music therapist to join our Creative Arts Therapies (CAT) team. This is a part-time/fee for service position with immediate need to fill music therapy positions in Early Intervention, in-home service with medically fragile children and adolescents, and 1:1 music therapy. It is anticipated that additional contract work will be available, including, small group, Memory Care and Alzheimer’s programming, school based group music therapy, and specialized ensemble work (chorus). Hours are varied and will include morning, afternoon, evening, and weekends. Ability to work Saturday is required. Services are provided on the South Shore and Southeastern Massachusetts. Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license is required.
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:
Ø Plan, organize, and lead goal directed music therapy sessions, for groups and individuals with diverse abilities, skills, and needs, in a variety of settings
Ø Prepare and maintain music therapy session plans, observations, progress reports, and materials as required and/or requested
Ø Communicate with all stake holders (team, family, individual) in both written and verbal form
Ø Collaborate with team, department, and others to develop and deliver effective and relevant treatment
Ø Represent CAT at vendor fairs, conferences, workshops, and special events
Ø Maintain board certification (MT-BC) through continuing education
Ø Participate in scheduled SSC and departmental meetings, professional development, and supervision
Ø Promote and support SSC programs, activities, and mission
Qualifications:
Ø Board Certification in Music Therapy (CBMT certification)
Ø Proficiency of clinical musicianship on piano, guitar, voice
Ø Ability to improvise using both melodic and rhythm instruments
Ø Excellent communication skills
Ø Experience working with a variety of populations, including early childhood and geriatrics
Ø Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
