SUMMARY
The Hopkinton Center for the Arts has partnered with several surrounding school systems to provide creative arts education to students with developmental disabilities aged 18-22. There will be classes in dance, theater, art, and music, and we are still on the search for a music teacher! Responsibilities and duties include: 1) teach one-hour long music classes to up to 21 students with special needs with the help of support staff from the students’ daily programs, 2) engage students in music activities and appreciation. Movement-based activities encouraged! 3) teach future, weekly classes for similar population based on individual interest in subject area
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
– preferred Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Therapy, or Special Education/related field
– if non-music degree, demonstrable experience in music or music education
– prior teaching experience preferred
– sample lesson plan and/or curriculum required
